For majority of people, without any special medical conditions like hyper thyroid the MAIN REASON is Insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance is when cells in your muscles, fat, and liver don’t respond well to insulin and can’t use glucose from your blood for energy. To make up for it, your pancreas makes more insulin. Over time, your blood sugar levels go up. And THIS IS BECAUSE OF OVEREATING CARBs for a long period of time.
The doctors call you pre-diabetic or diabetic only when your hba1c reaches 6 plus. However, the Insulin Resistance would have existed years leading upto that.
How do I know if I have IR (Insulin Resistance)?
There are a few ways you can check whether you have insulin resistance OR not.
- Do a HOMA – IR test.
- Measure your waist. If it is over 90 cm (men) or 80 cm (women), most likely you have Insulin Resistance.
- Measure your weight and compare with BMI. Although this is just a rough way of calculating, it still holds good for majority of people.
How do I fix it?
- REDUCE Carbs. Switch to a low carb diet. There is almost nothing good comes out of carb.
- Intermittent fasting
